Nova Scotia - Adventure Cycling
A fun way to explore the exceptional scenery of Ten Beaches and to get in some great exercise is to climb aboard a bicycle. Bike rentals, along with self-guided or guided bike tours, are available in the area through Freewheeling Adventures. The company carries the brand name Trek bicycles and has a full line of models, from hybrids and road racers to tandem and children's bikes. There are even trailer bikes, so you can get a workout with your child conveniently in tow.
For more serious bikers, the 60-kilometre (37-mile) loop around the gorgeous Aspotogan Peninsula is a great route. The hilly treed coastline, described by some as the "mini Cabot Trail," is a popular place to explore. If you want a less rigorous ride, you can take a 10k cycle down to Bayswater Beach, or bike along the scenic St. Margaret's Bay Trail.
If you need bikes dropped off or picked up, that too can be arranged for a small extra charge, but all the equipment you need comes with the rental. To ensure your bike rental call ahead for an appointment to Freewheeling Adventurers at (902) 857-3600.
